Today is our last full day here in beautiful Florida, at this perfect bayside home away from home. The kids want to go out for breakfast this morning, so we watch our Lil Walter, so the adults can get away on their own for a few hours. After breakfast, we all decide to spend our last morning playing and swimming in the pool.
After lunch, the kids all want to get in on some jet ski action, so they all walk over to the rental booth located next to our house to rent their ski’s. The location of the rental booth couldn’t be better, because we are able to watch them right from our pier, as they take off and ski around the bay area. While they are skiing, I decide to try my hand at a little fishing off the dock. I am actually a little surprised that our nurse shark friend hasn’t yet tried to latch on to our fishing lines. Guess she doesn’t like brats or chicken (that’s all we had for bait!) LOL….
After an afternoon of water sports, we all get ready for our last night in Key Largo.
We head to The Fish House Restaurant & Seafood Market for dinner. The atmosphere is exactly what I love in a restaurant. A relaxed vibe with staff who are happy to be there, and impeccable and perfectly prepared food! We all order something different, from Seared Sea Scallops, Crab Cakes, Sautéed’ Red Snapper, Fried Oysters, and some amazing Hogfish! I had never heard of “Hogfish” before coming to the Keys, and I discovered that I have been really missing out!! It is absolutely delicious! Hogfish is native to the west Atlantic Ocean and the flavor of the fish is mild and sweet, with a melt in your mouth tenderness. They have different types of sides, but we all order their specialty which is rice pilaf, corn on the cob, and homemade coleslaw. All of our meals were cooked to perfection. You can find their website and menu at https://fishhouse.com.
And can we just talk about my Dirty Martini ? Words just cannot describe how good it was….
All in all, it was a great last night in Key Largo. We all love, loved our rental house and beautiful surrounding property, and the Florida Keys was a really fun place to visit. But, the absolute best part of our Gardner Family Vacation, was without a doubt, the precious time we were all able to spend together as a family. We laughed until we cried, we played in the pool, we explored new places, we ate way too much, but most of all ….. we loved….. we loved each other.
Until next time Key Largo. We will miss you….
